Choosing procurement & materials software

Procurement tools help you order, track and source materials, and connect orders to the schedule.

Our own general advice, not a recommendation of any product.

Questions to ask on every demo

  • Which suppliers and distributors can I order from through it?
  • Can it pull material lists from my takeoff or estimate?
  • How are quotes compared, and can I keep my negotiated pricing?
  • How do I track a delivery, and who is notified of a delay?
  • Is there a cost to my suppliers?

What to watch for

  • A marketplace is only useful if your suppliers are on it.
  • Check whether pricing shown is live or a list price.

If you are a small firm

Ask your main supplier what ordering tools they already offer before adding a new one.
