Goodcall

goodcall.com

AI answering service and virtual receptionist for small businesses that answers calls, captures leads, books appointments and logs caller details, built and edited through an agent called Gabi.

Overview

Goodcall is an AI answering service and virtual receptionist for small businesses that answers business phone calls around the clock. The company says the phone agent is built and managed through Gabi, an agent that creates and updates it from plain-language instructions.

According to the site, the agent greets callers, identifies whether they are new, existing, urgent or spam, and asks qualifying questions. It collects details such as name, need and location and sends them to the owner by text and email, checks a calendar and books appointments, logs caller details in a CRM such as HighLevel, and transfers calls to the right person with a backup if they don't answer.

Setup works by describing the business in plain words or giving Gabi the website; the company says Gabi writes the greeting and steps, runs test calls and publishes changes after approval. A business can use a new local number or forward an existing one.

Who it's for

Goodcall says it is for small businesses that take phone calls from customers. Its main on-site example is a plumbing company, and it also shows examples from real estate, dental and online retail; the home page doesn't use the words contractors or home services.

Pricing

Published pricing

Goodcall's pricing page lists Starter at $79 per month for 100 unique customers, Growth at $129 per month for 500 and Scale at $299 per month for 2,000, with Enterprise on custom pricing. Billing is per unique customer rather than per minute or call, and overage per extra customer is listed as 79 cents, 26 cents and 15 cents respectively. The page offers a free demo agent to build and test, and says payment is due when a phone number is connected to a paid plan.

The AI angle

Goodcall says its AI agent answers calls, works out whether the caller is new, existing, urgent or spam, and asks qualifying questions before capturing the caller's details and booking an appointment against the owner's calendar.

The company says that once connected to inventory or order systems, the agent can look up stock and order status during the call, and that special requests are passed to the owner. Gabi, the building agent, is described as writing the greeting and call steps and publishing changes only after the owner approves.

Questions worth putting to Goodcall, or any phone, chat & ai receptionists vendor, on a demo call:

  • Does a person or an AI answer, and when does it hand off to a human?
  • Can it book directly into my scheduling software or only take a message?
  • How does it handle emergencies, after-hours calls and callers who are upset?
  • Is pricing per minute, per call or a flat plan, and what counts as overage?
