Schedule forecasting and risk platform for capital projects that analyzes existing schedules from tools like P6, Powerproject and Microsoft Project at project and portfolio level.
Overview
nPlan is a forecasting and risk platform for construction project controls. It works from existing schedules, naming Oracle P6, Powerproject and Microsoft Project, and produces forecasts of when activities, milestones, projects and portfolios are likely to finish, along with analysis of which activities carry the most risk. The company says its models are trained on a large dataset of historical construction schedules.
The product set includes Insights Pro, a forecasting and risk analysis tool for project teams; Insights Core, aimed at teams without a dedicated risk function; Insights Risk Professional; Portfolio, for assessing deliverability and risk across many projects; and Decision Intelligence, for single-project decision points. Two standalone tools, Schedule Studio and Schedule Integrity Checker, generate schedules and check them for integrity issues.
In Insights Pro, users upload a schedule and receive milestone and end-date forecasts, views of driving and sub-critical paths, and a scenario tester for mitigation strategies. Teams can upload a risk register to see what it covers. nPlan says forecasts and project data can be fed into Power BI dashboards, and Schedule Studio can export generated schedules to Primavera P6.

The AI angle
nPlan says its forecasting uses deep learning models trained on a database of more than 750,000 as-planned and as-built schedule files to predict how each activity in a programme will perform. The company describes a graph neural network that analyzes relationships among tasks, resources and timelines, and an in-house simulation engine it presents as an alternative to standard Monte Carlo analysis, which it says can process full programmes with tens of thousands of activities.
On the generative side, nPlan describes Schedule Studio, built on a model it calls GraphGen, which it says turns a natural-language description or uploaded scope documents (PDFs, spreadsheets, Word files, slides) into a logic-linked schedule with a work breakdown structure that can be edited and exported to P6. The company also introduced Barry, an AI assistant in Insights and Portfolio that it says can interrogate risk registers, produce reports and help design mitigation scenarios.
