Sitemetric, a Houston-based construction site access-control and monitoring company, on July 2 launched Sitemetric AI, an “agentic” layer built into its existing app. It is the latest sign that the wave of AI agents washing over construction software is reaching the jobsite gate.
Ask the site a question
The new feature lets a user ask, in a typed or spoken sentence, questions the company frames around day-to-day site management — who is on site right now, whether any subcontractors are missing their OSHA 10, or how hours by trade are trending this week — and get an answer back in seconds. It sits on top of the smart turnstiles, worker badges, AI cameras and sensors Sitemetric already deploys.
The more ambitious claim is autonomy. Sitemetric says its agents can detect when a turnstile, access controller or power supply goes down on a site and reboot and restore the affected system on their own, rather than simply alerting a human to go fix it.
Scale and the “first” claim
Sitemetric, led by chief executive Rich Riley, says its platform spans more than one million registered workers and 16,000-plus contractors across 40 states. The company bills the release as “the first agentic AI for integrated construction site access control and monitoring” — a narrowly worded superlative that is Sitemetric’s own characterization rather than an independently verified fact.
Access control is an underrated data source: the same turnstiles and badges that keep unauthorized workers off a site also generate a continuous, structured record of who was there, when, and with what certifications. Turning that exhaust into answers — and, increasingly, into autonomous action — is a logical place for agentic AI to earn its keep on the jobsite. Whether the autonomy lives up to the billing is the part worth watching once the tool is in daily use.
