XBuild has launched Roofing Proposals, an AI product that takes a contractor from job-site photos to a signed, priced proposal in what the company says is under 15 minutes. The launch rides alongside a $19 million Series A led by N47, with participation from Rackhouse Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz, announced in January.
XBuild was founded by Jahan Khanna and Rob Moran, both former Uber and Postmates executives, alongside civil engineer Sharuk Khanna. The company describes itself as an AI estimating platform for contractors more broadly — its site’s tagline is “inspect, quote, and close before you leave the driveway” — with roofing as the first trade it has built a fully productized workflow around.
What the Product Actually Does
Roofing Proposals is built to consume the inputs a roofing contractor already generates on a typical job: measurement reports from EagleView, GAF QuickScope, Hover, or RoofR, plus site photos captured through CompanyCam. From those inputs, the AI assembles a homeowner-facing proposal with tiered Good/Better/Best pricing options, pulling real-time material pricing through an integration with ABC Supply, the country’s largest wholesale roofing distributor.
The proposal isn’t just a quote document — the product includes e-signature and Stripe Connect for payment, meaning the workflow is designed to take a homeowner from receiving an estimate to signing and paying a deposit without leaving the document. That end-to-end scope is the differentiator XBuild is selling: most estimating tools stop at the number, leaving the close as a separate manual step.
Early Numbers
XBuild says that in its first year of operation — prior to the roofing-specific launch — more than 15,000 projects were run to completion on the platform, representing roughly $250 million in construction project value, with contractors collectively saving more than 40,000 hours previously spent building estimates by hand. Those figures are company-reported and predate the Roofing Proposals product itself, so they describe traction for XBuild’s general estimating platform rather than results from this specific launch.
The Bigger Roadmap
Roofing is the first of several verticals XBuild says it plans to build dedicated proposal products for, with concrete, landscaping, painting, windows and doors, glass and glazing, insulation, HVAC, and plumbing named as the next targets for the Series A capital. The strategy mirrors a pattern common in vertical AI: prove the workflow — measurement data in, priced and payable proposal out — in one trade with dense, well-structured supplier data (roofing has that in EagleView and ABC Supply), then replicate the pattern trade by trade rather than trying to generalize estimating across all of construction at once.
